About beTweet — Manifesto

beTweet is a European, privacy-first social network. A microblogging platform — short posts, follows, replies, direct messages — with no advertising, no tracking, and no algorithmic ranking. It is built as an alternative to Twitter (X), Facebook, Reddit, Mastodon, and Bluesky for people who want their social graph governed by EU law instead of a terms-of-service update.

This page is the network's manifesto. It publicly documents how the platform works so that members, journalists, and regulators can audit it without an account. The feed is strictly chronological — no "for you" injection, no shadow-boosting. The ad-free model is permanent, not a launch-phase placeholder. Moderation is handled by a randomly-selected citizen jury of five verified users, with admin appeal. Data is hosted in the EU, encrypted at rest, and exportable or deletable at any time under the GDPR.
